Description

The Chair of Pediatrics of the University of Rome Tor Vergata was founded in the early ’80s, by the distinguished Pediatrician Brunetto Boscherini.
Ever since the teaching staff has kept a strong translational research profile in the field of specialized pediatric disciplines with particular reference to Endocrinology, Hematology, Allergology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases.

The activities of the Chair have grown over the last 20 years thanks to the partnership with the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital.
The current Chairman is Prof. Paolo Rossi. The headquarter is located inside the Pediatric University Hospital-Department (DPUO) of the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital.

The educational activities of the Medicine and Surgery Degree Course both in Italian and English language include periods of attendance for the practical clinical activities at the Pediatric University Hospital-Department, in the Pediatrics, Infectous Diseases, Endocrinology, Bronchopneumology, Rare Diseases Units of the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital and the Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology Units of the Tor Vergata Hospital (PTV).

To certify the Clinical and Experimental core of the activities of the Chair, there are several national and international Research Projects in which the Professors of the Chair are committed and the outstanding scientific contributions in the field of Immunology and Infectious Diseases and Pediatric Endocrinology, published by prestigious international magazines.
The students who want to do a thesis in Pediatrics are actively involved in these projects and are enabled to attend the Research Laboratories of the Chair, located into the E-North tower of the Faculty of Medicine and, they are often co-authors of the publications that describe their results.
All these activities are available at the website of the School of Pediatrics through a virtual learning platform.
