The Residency School in Pediatrics of the University of Rome Tor Vergata is currently directed by Prof. Paolo Rossi. Its headquarter is located at the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital and it has got 12 open positions per year. The partners of the informative network are the Unit of Neonatology of the Casilino Hospital and the Unit of Pediatrics of the Tor Vergata Hospital.
The system as described, along with the corpus of Professors, composed by outstanding experts of the field, meets the needs of both theoretical and practical education that the Residents have, which correspond to the typical need of the modern Pediatrician, without giving up a more general and wide-open medical education, which is guarantee by the attendance at the Unit of General Pediatrics, the Emergency Department and the Hospital Admission of the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, well known to be the biggest Italian Pediatric Emergency Room.
Along with the theoretical and practical educational activity, the Pediatrics Residents are encouraged to participate to the several national and international Research Projects to which the Professors take part mainly as Principal Investigators or Coordinators, thus having the possibility to master the experimental aspects of Pediatrics into the Institutional Research Laboratories.
Residents are encouraged to spend a period of training abroad (max. 18 months) in prestigious national and international Institutes that are partners of the School.
The Residency School is provided with a VLE dedicated platform where the interns have access to the didactic materials (lessons, clinical cases, Reviews etc.), the forum, the evaluation section, the Logbook. The Residency School thesis are always experimental.
